Blessing Stone Ceremony

A Blessing Stone Ceremony is a great way to involve everyone attending your beach wedding. Smooth rounded colorful stones should be used. Better yet and more natural is the use of sea shells. At the conclusion of the ceremony the couple each takes a stone or shell. The whole wedding party and the guests also takes one. Everyone moves to the edge of the water and makes a wish or a blessing to the newlyweds. On the count of three everyone throws them into the water.

Makes for a great photo opportunity for your photographer and videographer.

Varriations include doing it during the ceremony, after the ceremony or at the reception. Another varriation, especially if it would be difficult for some attending to get to the water, is to have each guest take a stone or sea shell to hold during the ceremony. These blessed objects are latter put into a vase or other container. The couple can now take home all the good wishes and blessings. Makes a great keepsake and reminder of their beach wedding. Still another option would be to give each person two stones or shells one the cast into the gulf and one to put into a container.

You can search online for suggestions as to the words the officiant can say. Something along the lines of, "Cast your stones into the water, and just as the ripples touch and intertwine with one another may our love also touch and intertwine to spread love and good wishes to all around us!"

Sea shells can be gathered ahead of time or purchased at any of the souvinier shops. Stones can also be gathered or purchased. Many are sold in pet shops for aquariums or in craftshops.
